Defrenne v Sabena (No.2) [1976] ECR 455 ECJ

Gabrielle Defrenne was employed by the Belgium state airline Sabena as an air hostess. She made a claim that between February 1963 and February 1966 she had been paid less than a male cabin steward with the same seniority would have been entitled to receive. Her claim was referred by the Belgium Cour du Travail to the ECJ for an interpretation of Article 119 of the Treaty of Rome on the following questions:
